Caesalpinia pulcherrima (Linnaeus) Swartz, Observ. Bot. 166. 1791.
Bas.: Poinciana pulcherrima Linnaeus (1753).
Escaped/naturalized shrub of dry open areas around houses and the sea-shore.
Common on Anse L'Ivrogne delta, Choiseul, otherwise rare.
Cultivated and naturalized throughout tropics, of unknown origin.
Also a cultivated ornamental.
Its presence on the lower slopes of Gros Piton is worrying - potentially invasive.
