Indigenous scandent viny shrub of moist open and semi-open areas, often degraded, at lower and middle elevations.
Guadeloupe, Dominica, Martinique, St. Lucia, St. Vincent,  Grenada, Barbados, Trinidad, Tobago, Greater Antilles (Jamaica, Puerto Rico),  Mesoamerica, South America.
Similar in habit to Mimosa ceratonia but the leaves are quite different.
