Pogostemon cablin, patjouli, treats flatulence and colds.  It is added to vanné van (Ocimum gratisimum), a branch six to eight inches, mawi pouwi (Petiveria alliacea), three to five leaves, and the skin of garlic (Allium sativum, boiled and drunk for gas or a cough it is combined with la fle siwo (Sambucus simpsonii).  It is believed that women in mensus should not pick patjouli—it will kill the plant.
