Antigua, Guadeloupe, Martinique, Montserrat, St. Lucia, St. Vincent, Greater Antilles, Virgin Islands, Aruba, North America, Mesoamerica, and South America. Also a cultivated ornamental. It typically forms colonies in stagnant pools in rivers during the dry season, flushing away in the wet season. However if drainage systems are disturbed and cut-off ponds are formed, it acts as an indigenous invasive, completely and permanently covering the surface. |
