West indian endemic.
Common tree of all levels of the rainforest, in the more sheltered spots, not normally forming dense populations.
Saba, St. Kitts, Nevis, Montserrat, Guadeloupe, Dominica, Martinique, St. Lucia, St. Vincent, Grenada, Greater Antilles (Cuba, Hispaniola, Puerto Rico).
This is the white form. Two distinct forms (red, white) which are possibly 2 species. See Prestoea red form
