Begoniaceae family

Begonia vincentina
O.E. Schulz
, Symb. Antill. 7: 14.  1911.

Lesser Antillean endemic.
Herb of very wet semi-open spots.
Rare, Mount Tabak and Piton Troumasseé.
St. Lucia, St. Vincent.
Apparently common wild in St. Vincent but rarely seen in St. Lucia.
Howard (FLA) mentions Begonia vincentina var. scopulicola O.E. Schulz as being a  variety smaller in all parts - our specimens seem to fit this description. I have not yet observed fruits.
A similar but larger cultivated species is Begonia obliqua.
