Indigenous tree of semi-evergreen seasonal forest.
A few specimens at Soufriere, on east side of highway as it ascends towards Bouton. Also around Malgretoute, Soufriere.
Antigua, Montserrat, Guadeloupe, Dominica, Martinique, St. Lucia, St. Vincent, Greater Antilles, Virgin Islands (Tortola), Trinidad, Mesoamerica, South America.
The masses of white flowers are very visible, December/ January.
Probably over-exploited for its timber in the past.
