Antigua, Dominica, the Grenadines, Martinique, Monserrat, Saba, St. Lucia, St. Vincent, Virgin Islands, Greater Antilles, Mesoamerica, South America, West Africa.
Loses all its leaves at one time and may then form flowers which attract large numbers of birds.
