FLA lists Gossypium barbadense Linnaeus and Gossypium hirsutum Linnaeus as present in St. Lucia.  However we have a single taxon here which has been determined to be Gossypium hirsutum.

It was first utilized by the early indigenous people for making hammocks, clothing, boat sails, and ornaments.
