Mimosa pigra
, Cent. Pl. I: 13.  1755, nom. cons.

Naturalized shrub of open swampy degraded spots at low elevations and disturbed lowland river valleys.
Native to tropical Africa.

Probably a recent arrival in St. Lucia, certainly spreading fast through open swampy areas. It has now reached Cul de Sac swamp and may become common there and squeeze out some native species. Dominant in the flood plain of the lower Maquis River.
It is now an invasive species in saint Lucia.
It is also on the "100 of the World's Worst Invasive Alien Species" list.
