Myrtaceae family

Eugenia gregii (Swartz) Poiret in J.B.A.P.M. de Lamarck, Encycl. Suppl. 3:
126. 1813.
Bas.: Myrtus gregii Swartz (1788).

Lesser Antillean endemic.
Quite rare shrub of shady riversides at lower elevations and ridges in lower montane rainforest.
Guadeloupe, Dominica, Martinique, St. Lucia.
Underside of leaf very white.

On many taxonomic databases the species epiphet is greggii. However Swartz named it as gregii after the collector John Greg, owner of Hillsborough Estate, Dominica - thus greggii is an orthographic variant.
