Fl. Brit. W. I. 231  1860.
West Indian endemic
Tree of lower montane rainforest and the forest edge.
Dominica, Grenada, Guadeloupe, Martinique, St. Kitts, St. Lucia, St. Vincent, Virgin Islands (St. John).

We found a sterile small tree close to the Bouton junction, Soufriere, March 2012.
The appearance of the wood, bark and leaves make it likely to be this species. Further confirmation was the strong almond smell of crushed leaves and, on some leaves, a pair of spots at the base of the blade.
Update: we found many large trees on a ridge due west of Bouton junction. June 7, 2012. There were many seedlings and seeds on the ground.
